Introduction

I am going to talk about my vacations. Some are interesting and some are adventurous. So, get ready with your popcorn.

VENGRULA

In the year 2018, my parents, my maternal grandfather, my brother, and I had gone to a beautiful place called Vengrula. We stayed at a beach hotel. It all started a 9 9 days before my final exam.  My parents were thinking where to go. They found an article about Vengrula and its beautiful beaches. My Mom thought that my maternal grandfather would love it. So after all the preparations, my parents thought that we should leave on 19 march, after my final exams. However, my brother was not that lucky that he could attend his last test because we left a day before his test! Nevertheless, I was not paying that much attention to my brother’s exam. I was concentrated on my vacation and meeting my maternal grandfather. When the day came, I was very much excited. We went by a train. Actually, there is no airport in Vengrula as it is a small village. On reaching the hotel, we found out that at the place we were staying there were other kids of same age group as ours. Actually, their parents were the owners of the beach-house we were staying at. We started playing with them with the tools we had bought. We could play in the sand. We met again the next day. We played after taking our breakfast. This went on for days. I noticed that there were some swings, a hammock, and a small canteen like place in the whole area. Below the sand hill, some boats were close to the water. Unfortunately, one night my stomach was paining. I told my dad. He told me it would be okay if I avoided the thought of it.  My brother was asleep. I avoided thinking about my pain. My Mom told me to sleep. I tried but it did not work. I told my parents once again. They took me outside. So, I could relax. I slept in the hammock but before sleeping, I saw that my brother did not even wake up when I was crying.  I was crying nonstop and he did not bother to wake up.  When I was strolling on the beach in the morning, I saw a big white cube. It looked somewhat like a cube. I asked my Dad. He said it was a whale’s ribcage or something like that. I had seen a video on YouTube in which the person in the video said that dead whales could explode and it is very dangerous. After this, I started to think that there were sharks in the water as that could be the only reason the whale was dead but it was not true at all. There were absolutely no sharks in the water. If there were sharks, they were miles away. The rest of the days were normal except a few. Here is what happened in one of those exciting days:

It was when my mother wanted to buy some groceries and asked where the nearest grocery store was. The eldest of the children we used to play with answered that it was three kilometers away. My mother was okay with the idea of waking three kilometers. My grandfather nearing eighty years of age agreed as well. We all were tired after travelling one kilometer except my mother and my grandfather. My mother or my grandfather has hardly fallen ill in their lives. My mother who is 45 has fallen ill for just one day. It goes for my grandfather also. As I was saying we were all tired except my grandfather and mother, me, my brother and father proposed to take an auto and by the way, the eldest kid we played with came as well. Until then we had walked two and a half kilometers. My mother was not okay with the idea of hiring an auto but we took an auto, at last. I remembered an incident similar to it. It was when my brother and I wanted to watch a movie called Spider Man. The seats left in the theater were at the back. So we postponed the idea for next day. While coming back from the theater next day we reached a bus stop. We waited for half an hour for the bus. Finally, a bus came and we boarded it.  After a few stops, we realized that we were nowhere near home. We got out of the bus.  We were one km outside the colony we lived in.  We had to walk three kilometers to reach home. We had to walk three kilometers because the colony was stretched on about two kilometers. We took an auto and we reached the market in half an hour. We bought the things my mother wanted and we again took an auto to reach the beach house. In the beginning, I was thinking that my mother would make me walk all the three kilometers. But my guess proved wrong.

*********

“I sometimes attack humans, when they don’t pay attention, I bite them. I live underwater.”

Yah, you all probably guessed that it was a Shark! Yah, we ate a shark. Can you believe it that we ate A SHARKKKK? Anyway, it was good in taste. While we were in Vengrula another thing happened. We wanted to make a boat out of thermo-sheet. We went to the shop in an auto. There were seven people in it.  Three kids from the beach hotel, my dad and mom, me and my brother. Our luck was so bad that we found traffic police in front of us. Thankfully, he was busy with the other lane so the auto driver left us far from our destination. Actually, he left us near the shop itself. My dad told to wait in the car until he bought the thermo-sheet. While going back I asked Dad why he was hiding from the police. He told that thermo-sheet was banned in some of the places. We, children, sat to make a boat that very night. It was finally ready after one and an half hour. However, it was late so we could not go near the sea. It could be dangerous. The mother of the three kids was asleep so we could not make a bucket of water. We all went to sleep. We were getting ready to go to a place called Redi beach early the next morning. Actually, there was a beach with a temple on top of a cliff. The temple was of Ganesh Ji. There was a story behind this temple. Once, a man was travelling in the hot sun. He was tired so he fell asleep under a tree. While sleeping, he saw Lord Ganesha in his dream. The god said that his statue was buried under the ground on which he was sleeping. He should dig the ground until he finds the statue and he should make a temple and put the statue in it. After waking up the man saw a shovel. He thought that it was sent by god to dig the statue out. The man immediately started digging everywhere and finally found the huge statue. To his surprise, he saw only two arms against the normal four that were present in the other statues. The man later built the temple and placed the statue of Lord Ganesha and his mouse.

The beach

When we went down the cliff, we saw a stone arc and near it, there were many rocks. On one of them, we found a black spiky thing standing on the rock. When we came back, it was nighttime. The three kids had already set the boat in the sea and we had missed it. However, they had a bucket of water so they could show us that it worked. The next day we were driving to GOA. Because Vengrula was on the edge it was not that far away, so it only took one hour to reach one of Goa’s beach. We played in the water until evening. We had snacks in a restaurant and then we went back to Vengrula and the sweet beach house.
