Opening of the camp & Pitching of tents; eve around barbecue (1).avi

Uploaded on 10 Feb 2012
During my school days in early fifties, I had to learn the history lesson by heart. One of the lessons was on the invasion of Alexander the Great. And one of the important questions was: Sikander kay humlay kay faidhay baian karo and the other was: Sikander kay humlay kay nuksanat baian karo. One of the candidates dropped the question though he had learnt the same by heart. Poor fellow did not know that Alexander was called Sikander in Urdu. The chapter was so confusing that even Bollywood expressed it in the lyric that goes as(Anpard):Sikandar ne Porus se ki thi ladaayijo ki thi ladaayito main kyaa karoonto Kaurav ne Pandav se ki haathaapaayijo ki haathaapaayito main kyaa karoonSikandar ne Porus se ki thi ladaayijo ki thi ladaayito main kyaa karoon2nd February, 2012 Sanjeev, Sanjay, Shalin, Amit and Ashwani charted out a programme for an outing for 3rd February. Strangely it did not take them much time to execute the foolproof outing.3rd Feb all assembled at the Camping site at Al Ain. Each helped the other to pitch their respective tents. Even by the fall of night, all of us were enjoying around the camp fire and barbecue. In my reveries as usual I recalled 'Sikander kay humlay' and compared it with the invasion of Militants the Great on us the innocent harmless Kashmiri Pundits in 1990. Had I not been hounded out, I would read Dubai only on the atlas and never had a chance to cross the Arabian Sea and enjoy camp life at Al Ain. Our children would hanker only after the local jobs if any. There are many gains, but the greatest loss is that we lost our roots, language, culture, ethnicity, our Home and habitat and above all the Cremation Ground, the final destination. While taking delivery of his new car Amit Bhan, repeatedly asked me for my body language. I had no answer but I believe even that time also I was taken over by the reveries of the 'Militant kay humlay-nefa aur nuksanat bhaian kero!'Bríjû dàss chhú vanàn låsív tû båsív.
